Buffalo, NY-The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released their 2014 Softball All-Conference Team and four D'Youville College players were selected.
Named as the AMCC Pitcher of the Year and a First-Team All-Conference selection was Kalie McHenry (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home). In AMCC conference play the sophomore right-hander led all pitchers in wins (9), strikeouts (90), ERA (1.11), complete games (12), starts (13), appearances (15), and innings pitched (94.2) while second in shutouts (3) and opponents' batting average (.190). Three-times during the season McHenry was named the AMCC Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Overall in 2014, McHenry set new career- high totals for wins (11) and earned run average (1.49).
This is the second-straight season McHenry has been named First-Team All-Conference.
"Kalie is more than deserving of such a great award," stated Spartans' Head coach Ona Halladay. "She kept us in every game we played and was dominant in the AMCC this year."
Shannon Evans (Cheektowaga, NY/East Aurora) caps her four-year career with her first all-conference selection. Evans was named to the AMCC Third-Team. The senior catcher batted .346 with four doubles, 11 RBI, and a .426 on base percentage in conference play. Defensively, Evans threw out a league-high five base runners attempting to steal.
Lauren DeVantier (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) was an AMCC Third-Team selection, the first of her career for the sophomore first baseman. In conference play, DeVantier batted .356 with three doubles, one triple, and 8 RBI. DeVantier was the Spartans' leading hitter this season with a .402 average.
Named to the AMCC Third-Team was shortstop MacKenzie Kehlenbeck (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama). In conference play, Kehlenbeck batted .340 with 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 6 home runs. Among conference players, the sophomore was third in slugging percentage (.872), fourth in home runs (6), and fifth in RBI (20).
This is the second time in two seasons Kehlenbeck was named to the All-Conference team. In 2013 she was a First-Team selection.
"MacKenzie, Shannon, and Lauren were important role players for our team this year," commented Halladay on the all-star trio. "Their output this year was important to our success and I am glad they were recognized for the great season each of them put together."
D'Youville was 11-7 in AMCC play this season, 14-16 overall, under first-year Head Coach Ona Halladay. The Spartans finished fifth in the conference standings and qualified for the AMCC Tournament.
