Buffalo, NY - Junior Hannah Turek (Depew, NY/Lancaster) of the D'Youville softball team established herself as one of the best hitters in the AMCC this past week with her performance at the plate and has been named AMCC Player of the Week.
Against Penn State-Behrend on Wednesday, Turek had three runs, three hits, three RBI, two doubles and a home run in game one of the doubleheader, helping give her team a 6-3 win. In the second game she followed up with a hit and a run in the 6-5 win, sweeping the defending conference postseason champions.
On Saturday against Franciscan, Turek took her game to another level. In both games, Hannah went 3-4 and scored two runs. She drove in two runs in game one and a season high four runs in game two. D'Youville defeated the Barons 16-1 and 17-1 to improve to 4-0 in conference.
In the four games last week, Hannah combined for a .625 batting average, 10 hits, nine RBI, eight runs and one home run, including a 1.000 slugging percentage. In three of the four games, Hannah recorded at least three hits, two runs and two RBI.
Turek currently is first on the Spartans in both batting average (.412) and RBI (15). This season, she has transitioned to third base and has played every game there this season, other than pitching. In the conference, Hannah is third in RBI and is fifth in batting average.
Hannah is a graduate of Depew High School where she played softball and swam for four years. She was a First and Second Team All-Conference player in softball and played club for the Amherst Lightening. Turek is a Business Management major and the daughter of Adele and Mark Turek.
