Brockport, NY – The D'Youville softball team took a break from their conference schedule to play a pair of non-conference games against Brockport Monday afternoon, sweeping the Golden Eagles 13-3 and 6-1.
The game was scoreless until the top of third when the Spartans went back-to-back with their big bats. Lauren Gawlak (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) led off the inning with a single up the middle. Two batters later, Darian Evans (Brant, NY/Evans) hit her third home run of the season, giving D'Youville a 2-0 lead. The Golden Eagles would score a run in the bottom of the fifth but again the Spartans would respond by tacking on more runs in the seventh. After Kehlenbeck and Colan were in scoring position with one out, Gawlak grounded to second again to drive in Kehlenbeck for a run. In the next at-bat, Monin would double to right center field, scoring Colan. To cap off her day, DeVantier would single up the middle to score Monin and increase the lead to 10 runs. D'Youville would end the game with a 13-3 victory.

Game two of the doubleheader would also see the Spartans getting on the board first. In the fourth inning, Hannah Turek (Depew, NY/Lancaster) led off the inning with a walk. McHenry would then reach base with a single and score two batters later due to an error by the Brockport right fielder for a 1-0 lead.
Brockport would tie the game in the bottom of the inning but the Spartans would retake their lead in the fifth. Monin walked with an out, followed by a single from Evans. DeVantier would continue to drive in runs, singling up the middle and driving in Monin. Two batters later, McHenry would single up the middle and drive in DeVantier for a 3-1 lead.
The Spartans would put the game away in the sixth with their fourth homer of the day. Kehlenbeck walked to begin the inning, stealing second and then moving to third on a wild pitch. Following a pitching change, Colan also walked to put two runners on base. The next batter, Gawlak, would hit her second home run of the season, scoring Kehlenbeck and Colan.
