Buffalo, NY - Two D'Youville softball seniors were named AMCC Players of the Week, helping the team clinch their second consecutive AMCC regular season title, announced the AMCC Monday.
Oufielder Lydia Monin (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter School) had a career week for the Spartans and was named AMCC Player of the Week. In game two against Hilbert on Wednesday,Monin hit her first career home run to go with two hits, two runs, two walks and a double in the team's 10-0 win.
In game one against Mount Aloysius on Saturday, Lydia scored the game tying run in the bottom of the third and then hit her second home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth for the go-ahead run in the 2-1 win.Her home run was the 100th hit of her career.
In four games, Lydia scored five runs with six hits, two doubles, two home runs and five RBI. She had at least an RBI in all four games last week. She also hit .500 over those four games. Monin is currently fourth in the AMCC with 34 runs.
Pitcher Kalie McHenry (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) finished the regular season strong this past week with a 3-1 record and four complete games and was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Week. Kalie pitched a total of 27.0 innings, striking out 17 and allowing one earned run.
Against Hilbert on Wednesday, McHenry pitched a complete game shutout, two hitter in game one with eight strikeouts. In game two, Kalie followed up with a one hitter complete game, allowing no earned runs.
Not only did Kalie get the job done in the pitching circle, she was dominate at the plate. Over four games, McHenry had five hits, five runs, six RBI, four walks and a home run. In game one against Hilbert, she stuffed the stat sheet with two runs, two hits, two walks, four RBI and a homer.
Currently, Kalie leads the AMCC in innings pitched, strikeouts, complete games and wins, while is third in ERA.
