Buffalo, NY - Starting shortstop Darian Evans (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) of the D'Youville softball team led the team to a pair of wins this past week and put up huge numbers at the plate, leading her to being name the AMCC Player of the Week.
Darian recorded seven hits with 11 RBI, two home runs and four runs scored over a four game stretch last week. In three four games, Evans had two hits while she recorded at least two RBI and a hit in each game. In 16 at-bats this past week, the sophomore infielder hit .438 this past week with an .813 slugging percentage and recorded no strikeouts.
This past Sunday was where Darian made her biggest impact. In the team's 16-10 win over the Barons in game one, Evans went 2-5 for four RBI, one run and one home run. She then added another home run, two runs, three RBI and two more hits in the second game of the doubleheader.
Evan's performance over the weekend moved her to second on the team's RBI list with 13. Her three home runs lead the team and has hit safely in the past four games, raising her average to .294.
Also a member of the women's basketball team, Darian was second in rebounding this season with 5.8 RPG and was fifth in scoring at 6.5 PPG. She recorded one double-double and had a season high of 16 points against Penn State-Altoona.
At Lake Shore High School, Evans played basketball for five years and softball for six. She was her team MVP and a First Team All-Star for basketball and team MVP, ECIC Division II First Team All-Star and Female Athlete of the Year for softball.
She is an ESS/DPT major and the daughter of Terra and Bill Evans.
