Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville softball team fell to the Medaille Mavericks on Monday afternoon in a doubleheader, suffering losses by the scores of 12-0 and 8-0.
Medaille immediately put their stamp on the game by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first. They then added a run in the third and four in the fourth, totaling 12 runs. The 12-run lead after five innings was enough and the Spartans went on to lose by that final score.
In game two, the Mavericks again built a large lead early. They scored two runs in each of the first, second and third innings to go up 6-0. In the fourth and fifth innings, Medaille added a run to make the game 8-0 after five, which would be the final score.
Ashley Carney (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and Darian Evans (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) tallied the only hits for D'Youville. Alexis Dymond (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) started the game while Turek started game one.
The next pair of games for the women comes on Wednesday, April 26 as they travel to Penn State-Behrend. Game one begins at 3pm and game two starts at 5pm.
