Buffalo, NY - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) released their all-conference awards on Wednesday morning with two thirds of the D'Youville Spartan's outfield being represented amongst the best.
Junior outfielder Ashley Carney (Clarence, NY/Clarence) was named an AMCC First Team All-Conference selection for the second year in a row while freshman outfielder Mikaela Milleville (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) earned AMCC Third Team All-Conference honors in her first season as a Spartan.
Carney finished the regular season second in the conference in batting average (.467), on base percentage (.544), and slugging percentage (.682), tied for third in walks (17) and triples (4), third in hits (50), and tied for ninth in doubles (9) with 20 RBI, 25 runs scored, and two home runs. Ashley led her team in batting average, RBI, runs scored, home runs, hits, walks, doubles, and was second in triples.
To conclude the regular season, Carney recorded a 14-game hitting streak and recorded hits in 21 of 22 games to close out the season. She tallied 14 games of two or more hits - including four games of three hits and three games of four hits. In nine games, Carney tallied a hit, run, and RBI.
In the team's win over Penn State-Behrend, Ashley went 3-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base. In the team's win over Penn State-Altoona, she went 4-4 with four runs scored, a double, a triple, and two RBI. In a non-conference doubleheader against Brockport, Carney had a statline of 3-6, 4 runs scored, two doubles, a home run, two RBI, and a stolen base. Ashley was extremely consistent throughout the season. She was an AMCC Third Team All-Conference player in 2017 in addition to her AMCC First Team All-Conference honors in 2018.
As for Milleville, the freshman stepped into the starting lineup early this season and quickly established herself as an important player. At the end of the regular season, Mikaela finished first in the AMCC in triples (6) this season and thirteenth in slugging percentage (.524).
On the Spartans, Milleville led the team in triples (6), second in slugging percentage (.524), tied for second in stolen bases (2), was third in batting average (.329) and runs scored (18), tied for third in hits (27) and walks (9), fourth in doubles (2), and fifth in RBI (13). Milleville totaled six multi-hit games and committed just three errors in 31 games this season with two outfield assists.
