Erie, PA-The D'Youville women's basketball team opened the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference portion of their schedule in a big way. The Spartans never trailed tonight going wire to wire with the lead and defeated Penn State Behrend 62-44 on the Lions' home floor.

With the win, D'Youville is now 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the AMCC. The Spartans have won two-straight.

D'Youville ran out to an early 13-3 lead to open the game and extended their margin to as many as 23.  Penn State Behrend didn't reach double-figures until 2:08 left to play in the first-half and trailed at the break 33-15. Dougherty led all players with 10 points in the first 20 minutes of play.

The closest Behrend would get was 12 off the lead at the 14:48 mark of the second-half.

Head coach Dan Glover after the game: "Today was a great day for D'Youville women's basketball and being a part of this basketball family. Our players gave every ounce of effort and really showed they wanted this game. Before the game I challenged the team to show that this is a new era of D'Youville basketball and to fight like Spartans by not giving up until the final buzzer. We did that and I couldn't be more proud of this team."

Next on the schedule for D'Youville is a non-conference game at Houghton College December 7. Start time is at 2:00 pm.
