Penn State-Behrend Lions vs. D'Youville Spartans

Buffalo, NY - Wednesday's showdown between the top-two women's basketball teams in the AMCC has been named the AMCC Game of the Week as the the Penn State-Behrend Lions visit the host D'Youville Spartans in the College Center Gym.
The Spartans enter the game with a perfect 2-0 conference record this season. To begin their conference schedule, the women knocked off the Hilbert Hawks 60-47 on the road as D'Youville handed the reigning conference champions their first conference loss of the season. In their following game against Alfred State, the Spartans again earned a double-digit victory as they took down the Pioneers 65-50.
Against the Hawks, three Spartans scored in double-figures to lead the way. Danielle Hore (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) nearly tallied her first triple-double of the season with 16 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Haley Kirisits (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) was the scoring leader with 18 points while Elizabeth Bradley (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) scored 16 as well.
An extremely balanced attack led D'Youville in their win over Alfred State. Kelsey Carpenter (Hilton, NY/Hilton) scored a team-high 14 points while Hore grabbed 14 rebounds. Kirisits grabbed nine boards while four starters scored eight and an additional four more grabbed six or more boards.
Powering the team this season has been their youth. Their top-four scorers are all freshmen or sophomores with their three top rebounders falling under the same category. Bradley, Kirisits, Hore, and Riley Riedel (Marilla, NY/Iroquois) have all shoulder the scoring load this season while adding defensive prowess as well. In the post, Emmalea Erlandson (West Valley, NY/Ellicottville) and Becca Krenzer (Pavilion, NY/Batavia-Notre Dame) have been important players as well.
As for the Penn State-Behrend Lions, they enter the game winners of their last three games - all conference games. Their first two wins of the conference schedule saw the Lions win over Alfred State and Medaille - a pair of 20-plus point victories. In their last game on Saturday against Pitt.-Greensburg, the women had their closest game of the season as the squeezed out a 66-62 victory.
Overall, the Lions have a record of 5-2 this season. They have three players scoring 13.4 PPG or more as they average 77.6 PPG as a team. Their scoring totals is the highest in the conference.
In their two games last year, D'Youville took down the Lions in their first meeting 80-65. Behrend would then get revenge on home court as they defeated the Spartans 66-61.
