Buffalo, NY - For the fourth time this season, the D'Youville women's basketball team has been named as part of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Game of the Week as the Spartans host the first place La Roche Redhawks on Saturday, February 1 at 4:00pm in the College Center Gym.

Of their three previous AMCC Games of the Week, the Spartans are 2-1. D'Youville took down Penn State-Behrend at home with a 68-59 victory in their first meeting in the AMCC Game of the Week, followed by a loss to Penn State-Altoona for the Spartans in their second. In their second meeting of the season, the Spartans took down Behrend yet again with a 74-68 win last Wednesday in their second meeting of the game of the week.

This past Saturday, the Spartans got revenge in their lone AMCC Game of the Week loss this season by defeating Penn State-Altoona 62-58. D'Youville has won each of their last three games and six of their last seven since the next year started.

Freshman transfer Sara Pfeiffer (Olean, NY/Olean) has come into the team and established herself as a force in the conference. She has scored at least 18 points all eight games since joining the team and is averaging 20.3 points/game in her last three games. That is an addition to 5.6 rebounds/game, 3.6 assists/game, and 3.0 steals/game in her last three games as she is averaging 21.0 points/game in her time with D'Youville.

Reigning AMCC Newcomer of the Year Danielle Hore (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) has played a huge role for the Spartans as well. She is averaging 16.3 points/game, 12.6 rebounds/game, 5.0 assists/game, and 3.6 steals/game in the last three games. She tallied back-to-back double-doubles against Behrend and Altoona and is the team's leader in nearly all categories.

The freshmen class has been outstanding for the women this season, especially as of late. Forward Sarah Wittek (Elma, NY/Iroquois) has been a strong presence for the women as of late, scoring a career-high 19 points against Behrend and earning her first start against Medaille. Haley Kirisits (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) has been also extremely important to the women's success as well with 16 points against Altoona. Ashley Schenkel (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) is coming off a career game against the Mavericks with her first career start and 12 points and four steals.

La Roche comes into the game as the AMCC's best. The Redhawks are 13-1 and have won their last two games following their first conference loss of the season. A balanced scoring attack is what drives La Roche as five players score over 9.0 points/game with three plays grabbing 6.0 rebounds or more per game.

In their previous meeting this season, D'Youville gave the Redhawks all they could handle as La Roche took the matchup 61-57. Pfeiffer made her team debut with 18 points while Brigid McKeone (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) scored 12 points with six rebounds. After being outscored in the first and second quarters, D'Youville took the second half by outscoring La Roche in the third and fourth.
