Buffalo, NY - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) released their all-conference teams Tuesday afternoon with a pair of standout Spartans from the D'Youville women's basketball program coming away from the season as two of the best in the conference.
Sophomore Danielle Hore (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) was named an AMCC First Team All-Conference guard while freshman Sara Pfeiffer (Olean, NY/Olean) earned AMCC Second Team All-Conference and AMCC Newcomer of the Year honors. The guard tandem led the Spartans to a 15-5 conference record in 2019-20 and the #3 seed in the AMCC playoffs. D'Youville advanced to the AMCC semifinals.
Hore turned in another outstanding season, building off her 2018-19 freshman season that saw her win AMCC Newcomer of the Year and was an AMCC Second Team All-Conference selection. Amongst qualified players that played in 60% of the team's games, Hore led the team at the end of the regular season with 13.7 points/game, 8.6 rebounds/game, 4.5 assists/game, and 1.6 steals/game. Danielle finished the regular season ranked 11th in points, 7th in rebounding, 3rd in assists, and sixth in minutes.
She scored in double-figures 19 times in 25 games with scoring over 20 points four times, and ended the season scoring double-figures in the last 10 games. Danielle had at least five rebounds in 23 of 25 games played with games of 16 rebounds three times and 16 games of four or more assists. She tallied six double-doubles during the season with one triple-double. When it came to conference play, Danielle's points, rebounds, steals, and blocks all went up and her assists/game dipped by 0.1. Her field goal % and three-point % also increased during conference play. She was named AMCC Player of the Week once.
Pfeiffer had a huge impact on the Spartan's squad since joining them for the spring semester. Pfieffer averaged 19.4 points/game in her 14 games - the highest scoring total on the team since her arrival. She began her tenure as a Spartan by scoring at least 18 points in each of her first 10 games with the women. Sara scored a team season high of 34 points in just her third game where she broke the program record with 10 made three pointers.
Overall, Sara scored double-figures in 13 of 14 games with four of those games going over 20 points and two going over 30. In nine games, Pfeiffer showed off her shooting prowess by making three or more three pointers. Sara has also been an impressive rebounder with 4.7 rebounds/game and averages 2.4 steals/game. She has tallied at least two rebounds in all 14 games played and tallied at least two assists in 10 games. Since joining the team this semester, Sara has helped lead the team to an 11-3 record with three separate winning streaks of at least three games.
