Dan Gerken is the former high school coach of D'Youville Head Coach Danny Glover and is in his third year as an assistant coach for the Spartans.
After a two year hiatus from coaching at Lake Shore Central to watch his son play high school basketball, Coach Gerken returns to the court as an assistant for the D'Youville Women's Basketball team. Gerken brings over 27 years of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate level. He will be assuming a mentorship role as well as lending a hand with practice and game day coaching.
When asked about the addition of Gerken, Coach Glovers face lit up, " This is an amazing opportunity. I couldn't ask for a better person, coach, and role model to join our staff. I'm looking forward to this unique experience to add Coach Gerken to the staff and learn from his vast knowledge of the game. He will add a different element to our program, and I am very excited to see where the journey leads us this season." Coach Gerken
Gerken was a two-time ECIC Division II Coach of the Year, selected to coach both the high school Football and Basketball Senior All-Star games, and is the All-Time Wins Leader, Highest Win Percentage, and Most Games Coached for Lake Shore Boys Basketball Program.
He played in Coach Bill Nelson's basketball program at RIT and is a member of the Basketball Coaches Association of New York. Coach Gerken lives in Hamburg with his wife Maureen and their children Zach (age 16) and Haley (age 11).
