Erie, PA - The D'Youville women's bowling team began their inaugural season on Saturday afternoon on day one of the Grapevine Classic, hosted by Penn State-Behrend.
D'Youville finished fifth in the traditional format portion of the Grapevine Classic. The team went 2-3 in five matches with a total of 3,905 points with an average of 156.2 points/game.
Ashley Len (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) was the top bowler for the women, bowling five matches with a high average of 185.20. Her 214 was the highest out of any match for the Spartans.
Emily Williams (Colden, NY/Springville) followed with a 170.75 average four the four matches in which she bowled. Taking the third highest average at 165.20 was Chloe Strong (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore West), who bowled five matches.
Allison Imiola (Hamburg, NY/Frontier), Rebecca Weiss (Williamsville, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy), Rebecca Hennessy (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), and Emily Dick (Alden, NY/Alden) all had strong first performances for the women in their first day of competition.
The women will resume day two of the Grapevine Classic on Sunday, October 13 to conclude their first invitational of the season.
