Depew, NY - Wednesday, May 1 marked a day of celebration and recognition for all of D'Youville's student-athletes at the yearly Athletics Awards Banquet at Salvatore's Hospitality.
Head coach Lauren Ciurzynski presented the awards to her D'Youville women's crew team.
Christine Cimmerer (Clarence, NY/Clarence) grew into an a larger role throughout her freshman season to earn the Most Improved Player award. Cimmerer continuously put in the hard work during her first season with the women to grow her role and become a valuable member of the team.
Sophomore Colleen Greaves (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) was an important part of the team's success at the coxswain, earning the Spartan Award. Colleen has consistently put in the hard work and dedication to help lead her team to success. The Spartan Award represents a player who exemplifies teamwork, passion and a dedication to their team.
In her first year with the team, junior Theresa Rusch (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy) continued to contribute at a high level and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Rusch was the team's stroke, meaning she set the tone and pace for the rest of the team. Her contributions to the team led to several big races for the women at states and throughout the fall and spring seasons.
