Women's Lacrosse Reaches New Season High Goal Total in Loss to Wells

Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's lacrosse team battled through rainy conditions on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Wells Express by the final of 22-6.

Wells was on the board early, scoring the first two goals of the game. However Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport) scored her first goal of the game to cut the lead in half. The Express would take off and gain control of the game after Golding's goal, scoring the next seven. Before the first half ended, Golding scored a second goal with Amelia Gajewski (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) adding a goal for the third straight game and Paige Robinson (Kenmore, NY/Mt. St. Mary's Academy) scoring her first career goal.

In the second half, Golding added two more goals to her season total, both coming off free position shots. The final horn sounded and the Spartans would go down to the Express, 22-6.

Golding led the team in goals for the third time this season, scoring a career high four in the game. Gajewski added another goal and assist to her season total, with Robinson scoring her first. Shannon Robillard (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) led the team with five ground balls, while four players each had two. Gajewski led the team with six draw controls, while Callan Smith (Amherst, NY/Amherst) tallied two of her own.

The next game for the women is their first road game of the season as they travel to Keuka on Thursday, March 30 to play the Wolfpack at 4:30pm.
