Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville women's lacrosse team hosted their first home game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Keuka Wolfpack by the final score of 15-2.
Keuka dominated possession in the first half and were able to score eight goals on the Spartans. Their outstanding possession led to eight goals in the first and little scoring opportunities for D'Youville. At half time, the Wolfpack led the Spartans 8-0.
The second goal of the half was scored by Marissa Markott (Wheatfield, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield), with Amber Lundrigan (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) picking up the assist for her first career point. Keuka continue to dominate on offense in the second, increasing their lead to 12-1. D'Youville then answered with their second goal of the game as Isabella Luciana (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) scored her first career goal, assisted by Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport). Keuka would go on to score three more goals and win the game 15-2.
Markott led the team with seven shots in the game, but Golding led the team in shots on goal with five. Sierra Brooks (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), Luciana, and Golding each had three draw controls with Alison Gareis (Buffalo, NY/Buffalo Seminary) and Callan Smith (Amherst, NY/Amherst) each recording two caused turnovers. Smith also had a team high four ground balls. Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) made 12 saves in the game.
The next game for D'Youville will come this Wednesday, March 21 at 4:00pm at Buffalo State.
