Women's Lacrosse Falls to Medaille in Final Road Game

Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville women's lacrosse team suffered a loss to the rival Medaille Mavericks on Tuesday evening, losing by the score of 23-7.

It was a close game early between the two teams. Medaille scored the opening goal, but Michaela McMahon (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) and Sierra Brooks (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) each scored on free position shots to keep it tied at 2-2. The Mavericks then began to pull away, opening up a 7-3 lead. They then went on to score five of the eight eight goals and led 12-5 at halftime.

D'Youville went most of the half without score as the Mavericks continued to pile on the goals. They led 20-5 before Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport) scored on a free position shot to make the score 20-6. Golding added another goal with 0:17 to go in the game, but it was too late as the Spartans lost the game 23-7.

Golding led the team with four goals in the game, followed by McMahon with two and Brooks with one. Marina Campbell (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Catholic) and Julia Prychodko (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) each had four ground balls to lead the team as Isabella Lucania (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) recorded a team high eight draw controls. Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) tallied 15 saves in the game.

The Spartans will conclude their season this Thursday, April 26 as they host Fredonia at 6:00pm.
