Buffalo, NY - Two D'Youville Spartans concluded their seasons with all-conference accolades, announced the conference on Wednesday.
Senior attacker Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and freshman attacker Marissa Markott (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) were both named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) First Team All-Conference players, voted on by coaches in the conference. The two helped the team win their first four games in program history this season.
Golding wraps up her career with the Spartans as the best player to ever wear the uniform. Jill finished the season first in goals (48) and points (63) in the AMCC as well as tied for fourth in assists (15), fifth in draw controls (53), and second in shots on goals (76) and shots (97). In 13 games this season, Jill only went scoreless in one. She had at least four goals in nine games and had two 10-point games.
Golding was a major reason the team won their the first four games in program history this season, averaging just over four goals and six points a game in conference play. Jill was named AMCC offensive player of the week twice and led the team in goals, assists, points, shots, shots on goal, and draw controls. She is the program's all-time leader in all of those categories and finishes her two-year career with 97 total points. She was also team captain this season.
Markott had a strong first season with the Spartans, playing a major role on their offense. Marissa was second on the team with 25 goals and 27 points. She was also second in shots and shots on goal, fourth in ground balls, and she added two assists. In 13 games played, Marissa scored at least two goals in seven games and went scoreless in just two. She was one of the go-to options for the Spartans on offense and was a major contributor in her first season.
