Buffalo, NY - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) released their 2019 Preseason Poll for women's lacrosse as D'Youville joins the conference for lacrosse this season.
Prior to their first year of competition in the conference, D'Youville was picked to finish ninth out of 10 schools in the conference. The Spartans finished their sophomore season as an NCAA sport with a 4-9 record and won their first game of the season last year against Hilbert - the first in their program's history.
D'Youville is not unfamiliar with several of the NEAC schools, playing five NEAC programs last season. Of those five teams, the Spartans earned two victories with a 13-3 defeat of Hilbert in the first game of the season and a 17-14 win over Cazenovia.
Morrisville State is expected to repeat as conference champion for the third consecutive season with seven first-place votes out of 10 total. Keuka and Medaille round out the top three as all three teams return important players to their programs and will be in a battle for the top spot in the conference.
The Spartans have a plethora of young, talented players that will be pushing for playing time this season. In addition, the team's inaugural freshman class has now reached senior status as the women have a blended roster of talent and experience.
Five straight non-conference games will kick off the season for the women before hosting the SUNY Poly Wildcats on Saturday, March 23 at 1:00pm. D'Youville will open up their regular season on Tuesday, March 5 at Houghton.
