Lancaster, PA – The D'Youville women's lacrosse team earned their second conference victory in a row on Friday afternoon, defeating the Lancaster Bible Chargers by the final score of 14-4.
Early on in the game the Spartans were the dominant team as D'Youville scored the first four goals in the game as they led 4-0 after nearly 13 minutes of play following the second goal of the game from Marina Campbell (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Catholic). Lancaster Bible would then score their first goal of the game, but the Spartans would go on another run to extend their lead.
Through the final 14 minutes of the first, D'Youville would score five additional goals led by Sierra Brooks (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) with her second and third goals of the game. After 30 minutes of play, D'Youville would lead 9-1.
The first two goals of the second half came rather quickly with Paige Robinson (Kenmore, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy) and Tiffany Cristofanelli (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) increased the lead to 11-1. Each team would then add three more goals through the remainder of the game with the Spartans going on to win by the final score of 14-4.
Brooks led the team with three goals in the game as Robinson, Campbell, Cristofanelli, and Riley Riedel (Marilla, NY/Iroquois) scored two each. Margaret Merigold (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary Academy), Clarice Byrne (Boston, NY/Hamburg), and Marissa Markott (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) each tallied one goal with Isabella Lucania (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder) adding an assist.
In goal, Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) made 16 saves on 20 shots to lead the team to victory.
D'Youville will close out their 2019 season tomorrow as they play Penn State-Abington at 1:00pm.
