Buffalo, NY-In a Sunday morning non-conference match D'Youville defeated visiting Thiel College 3-1.
Danielle Gehen (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) scored twice for the Spartans. The first came in the 37th minute and the last came in the 87th minute after Thiel had scored to make it a one-goal game. Both tallies were assisted by Elizabeth Lyons (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster).
Samantha Giebner (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow Township) opened the game's scoring in the 13th minute on header off a corner kick from Nicole LaVere (Clarence, NY/Williamsville East).
The win keeps D'Youville unbeaten to start the season (3-0).
D'Youville will face Oswego State September 13 at the Riverside Athletic Complex at 7:00 p.m.
