Buffalo, N.Y.-The 2013 D'Youville College women's soccer schedule has been finalized. The Spartans will play 11 games on the road and 7 dates on their home turf at the Riverside Athletic Complex (51 Ontario St.; Buffalo, N.Y.).
D'Youville opens the season with a non-conference matchup at SUNYIT August 30 then returns home to play their first home match September 1 versus Hiram College.
Head coach Lew Potter's squad will become road warriors in the middle segment of the schedule. The Spartans play seven-straight on the road between September 16 and October 5. The last three matches of that travel slate open the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schedule.
The Spartans are then rewarded with a stretch of four-straight at home from October 8-19. All of those are AMCC matches.
After winning 11 matches last season D'Youville was picked to finish third in the AMCC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the program's highest start of the year selection since joining the conference in 2009. The Spartans closed 2012 with a tough 1-0 loss at Penn State Behrend in the semifinals of the AMCC Tournament. Behrend would go on to win the AMCC Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
The rematch of last year's AMCC semifinal will be played October 1 at Penn State Behrend. D'Youville won the 2012 regular season meeting 2-1 in Buffalo.
"We're looking forward to playing Behrend," said Potter. "It's now one of our rivalry matches, along with Medaille and Pitt-Bradford."
Speaking of those rivalry matches, the Spartans will host Pitt-Bradford October 8 and Medaille October 15 under the lights at Riverside.
Practice for the Red and White begins August 16 with the largest projected roster in the team's history.
