Women's Soccer and Keuka End in a 0-0 Draw
Keuka Park, N.Y.- It was the second-straight match the D'Youville women's soccer team has played to a draw. Tonight at Keuka College, the two teams battled for 90 minutes and then two 10-minute overtime sessions and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
D'Youville goalkeeper Christina Ventresca (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield)
made six saves, two coming in the first overtime, to record her third shutout of the season.
The Spartans had a great chance to end the game but a Rebecca Alvira (Buffalo, NY/Mount Mercy Academy)
hit the crossbar in the 103rd minute.
D'Youville was the more aggressive of the teams tonight. The Spartans had 26 shots in the game, 13 of them were on goal. The Red and Black held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks and were whistled 7 times for being offsides.
Terra Juda (North Tonawanda, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield)
had a game-high 9 shots, 5 of them on goal (also a game-high). Danielle Gehen (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West)
and Elizabeth Lyons (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster)
were next with 4 shots each. Both players had 3 of the net.
D'Youville's record is 3-1-2 overall and extend their unbeaten streak to four games (2-0-2). The Spartans are unbeaten on the road so far this season (2-0-1).
Next for the Spartans is a trip to Oswego State September 20.
