Oswego, N.Y.- Women's soccer carried their four-match unbeaten streak into today's game at Oswego State. The host scored in the 21st minute and that was the difference as the D'Youville streak ends with a 1-0 loss.
The Spartans defense did a great job of keeping shots off the net. Oswego finished with 23 shots but only 7 of them made it on the goal. Goalkeeper Christina Ventresca (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) made 6 saves.
D'Youville didn't find much room to maneuver on offense in this contest. The Spartan attack was limited to just three shots, two of them on goal.
"While the result isn't what we wanted today," said Head Coach Lew Potter, "it says a lot about where we are as a program. In 2010 when we played Oswego they won 8-1."
D'Youville's overall record now stands at 3-2-2.
Next on tap for the Spartans is another non-conference road match Sunday September 22 at Wells College. Start time in Aurora, New York is 2:00 p.m.
