Buffalo, N.Y.-The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference named D'Youville College goalkeeper Christina Ventresca (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) as their Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
In 290 minutes played over three matches last week, the Spartan's netminder allowed just one goal, compiled a .933 save percentage by stopping 14 of 15 shots faced, and recorded two shutouts.
Ventresca made six saves, two coming in overtime, in the Spartan's 0-0 draw at Keuka September 16. In the next match September 20 at Oswego State, the senior keeper stopped six shots in the team's 1-0 loss. The week of competition ended September 22 with a three save, 9-0 shutout win at Wells College.
In eight matches this season, Ventresca has played every minute in goal and leads all AMCC goalkeepers in goals against average (0.59), save percentage (.865), and shutouts (4). The Spartans are currently 4-2-2 overall.
The four-year starting goalkeeper also increased her D'Youville College women's soccer program career leading totals in wins (32), and shutouts (12).
The next match for D'Youville is September 24 at Alfred University. Start time for the non-conference contest is 7:00 p.m.
