Golding's Game-Winner Powers Women Past Bobcats

Greensburg, PA – The D'Youville women's soccer team won their second consecutive game on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Pitt.-Greensburg Bobcats 1-0.

Greensburg began the game on the offensive, recording three corner kicks and three shots in the first 28 minutes. In the final 15 minutes of the half, D'Youville began to build an attack in the Bobcat's end of the field. The women had two shots and a corner kick, but both defenses were strong as the two teams remained scoreless after the first half of play.

Again in the second half, the Bobcats came out and put pressure on the Spartan's defense with the two first shots of the half. However D'Youville would be the first team to put a goal on the board as Jillian Golding (Lockport, NY/Lockport) took a shot that found the left post and went in, giving the Spartans a 1-0 lead. Makenna Magee (Ellenburg Center, NY/Northern Adirondack) picked up the assist on the goal.

Following the goal, each team would have their chance to alter the score. In the 83rd minute, Greensburg had their best chance of the game to put one by the D'Youville defense, but Spartan keeper Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) made a great diving save to keep her shutout. The women would then hold on in the final seven minutes, shutting out the Bobcats to win the game 1-0.

D'Youville had a great defensive effort in the game, with Dulniak making three saves in her second consecutive shutout. Her defensive back line of Jenna Tomizzi (Buffalo, NY/Sacred Heart Academy), Magan Magee (Ellenburg Center, NY/Northern Adirondack), Dominique Riforgiato (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), Marina Campbell (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Catholic), and Cassandra Brooks (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) were excellent throughout the game to give the women their third conference win.

Magee and Golding led the team on offense with three shots each and two shots on goal. The two combined for the lone goal of the game. In total, the team had eight shots.

The next game for the women comes on Wednesday, October 18 as they travel to Hilbert. Game time against the Hawks is 3:15pm.
