Buffalo, NY – The D'Youville women's soccer team lost their final non-conference game before they begin conference play next Saturday as they were defeated by Brockport Golden Eagles 5-0.
Brockport had possession of the ball for most of the game and would score their first goal of the game in the 25th minute on a penalty kick. The Golden Eagles would then get their second of the opening half in the 38th minute off a shot from in close. Going into halftime, Brockport would lead 2-0.
The second half began with Brockport controlling the ball again, and they would score their third goal of the game in the 56th minute on a long shot from outside the box. Goals in the 71st and 73rd minutes would all but end the game for the Spartans as they went on to lost to the Golden Eagles 5-0.
Brittany Cristofanelli (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Kaylee Heschke (Newfane, NY/Newfane) registered the two shots on goals for D'Youville, with Magan Magee (Ellenburg Center, NY/Northern Adirondack) recording a shot. Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) recorded six saves, Jordyn James (Brighton, NY/Brighton) tallied three, and Clarice Byrne (Boston, NY/Hamburg) made four saves.
The next game for the women comes in the form of their conference opener next Saturday, September 22 as they host the Penn Staet-Altoona Lions at 2:00pm.
