Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's soccer team continued their red hot start to their conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Medaille Mavericks by the final score of 2-0.

It took the Spartans all of 4:01 to make their mark on the game, scoring on their first shot. Katelyn Eigenbrod (Arcade, NY/Pioneer) put a nice cross into the Maverick's box that found Makenna Magee (Ellenburg Center, NY/Northern Adironack) who brought it down and ripped a shot past the Medaille goalkeeper for a fast 1-0 lead.

For the rest of the first half, only five other shots were recorded and two of those shots were on goal. D'Youville settled in on defense as they allowed no real scoring opportunities after Magee's goal and the two teams went into halftime with the Spartans leading 1-0.

There was not a lot of action in the second half until the 65th minute when Kaylee Heschke (Newfane, NY/Newfane) had a shot saved by the Medaille keeper. They would then record a pair of corner kicks and a pair of shots in the next seven minutes, including a Cassandra Brooks (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) shot that required a diving save from Medaille and a Jamiliah McBryde (Buffalo, NY/Erie CC) shot that hit the crossbar.

Margret Leeds (Lockport, NY/Akron) nearly added her first goal of the season where a 35-yard shot off of her right foot skimmed the goalkeeper's hands and hit the back post in the 76th minute, nearly going in. D'Youville would continue to bring wave after wave of attacks until they broke through for their second goal of the game.

In the 81st minute, Brittany Cristofanelli (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) danced through the Medaille defense on the left side, firing a shot past the Maverick's keeper to double the D'Youville lead at 2-0. Medaille would have a pair of shots in the final three minutes of regulation, but both efforts would be thwarted by the D'Youville defense as the Spartans went clinched the 2-0 victory.

The D'Youville defense was once again outstanding, recording their third shutout in conference play. Megan Dulniak (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) made four saves for her third win of the season. Isabella Lucania (Webster, NY/Webster-Schroeder), Anna Hayes (Hamburg, NY/Mt. St. Mary's Academy), Dominique Riforgiato (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), Magan Magee (Ellenburg Center, NY/Northern Adirondack), and Brooks all were solid throughout the 90 minutes.

On offense, Magee scored in her third consecutive game for her third goal of the season with Cristofanelli adding her third point in as many games. Eigenbrod recorded her first career assist on Magee's goal in the fifth minute. Nine different Spartans had a shot on goal, with 12 total shots being recorded.

D'Youville will next host Pitt.-Greensburg this Saturday, October 6 at 2:00pm.
