Buffalo, NY - Continuing to dominate in conference play this season, junior forward Makenna Magee (Ellenburg Center, NY/Northern Adirondack) scored three goals this past week and has been named AMCC Offensive Player of the Week.
Magee scored a pair of goals in the team's 8-0 win over Hilbert on Wednesday evening as she took just two shots in the game - both resulting in goals. Then on Saturday against Mount Aloysius, Makenna scored the lone goal in the 1-1 2OT draw against Mount Aloysius. The junior is in the midst of a career year as she has already scored a career high seven goals.
Those seven goals are currently tied for third in the conference and leads D'Youville. Other than her goal scoring prowess, one of Makenna's best attributes is her efficiency. Magee has taken just 17 shots this season, 14 of which have been on goal and seven of which have gone in - meaning she scores on 50% of her shots on goal.
In her previous two seasons as a Spartan, Magee has led the team in scoring with six goals as a freshman and five goals as a sophomore. Her goal scoring prowess has been recognized by the entire conference as she has been an AMCC Second Team All-Conference player each year and she was named the AMCC Newcomer of the Year as a freshman in 2017.
Makenna was a decorated athlete at Northern Adirondack High School in Ellenburg Center, NY. She played four years of soccer where she was named a First Team All-Star and league MVP. She was also a First Team All-Star in tennis and honorable mention in softball while playing two years of basketball.
Here at D'Youville, Makenna is an Exercise and Sports Studies major with her career goal to become a Physical Therapist. She is on track to enter the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.
While at D'Youville, Magee played two years of soccer with her older sister Magan - an all-conference player as well. Makenna is the daughter of Gary and Gwen Magee.
