Tennis Takes on Fredonia State

Williamsville, NY- The D'Youville women's tennis team hosted Fredonia State in a non-conference match at Miller Tennis Center and the visitors left with a 9-0 win.

There were plenty of positive showings in singles today for the Spartans. In fourth singles, Luciana Payne (Buffalo, NY/Mount St. Mary Academy) pushed her opponent to a 6-3, 6-4 decision. The match was not only close in decision, it was the longest played match by a Spartan this season.

In second singles, Courtney Fox (Buffalo, NY/Tapestry Charter School) went 6-3, 6-2 in her match. It was the second-straight match Fox has won at least 5 games. Ashley Ledwon (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) put together her best win total in a singles match this season.

The Spartans look to continue moving forward with their next match September 30 at AMCC rival Pitt-Bradford.
