Tennis Takes Down Second Ranked Mavericks

Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's tennis team picked up a huge win on Friday evening, defeating the second place Medaille Mavericks by the score of 6-3.

Lauren Karolgan (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) helped the women pick up two big points against Medaille with a 6-1, 6-1 singles win. With her doubles partner Alisson Meissner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg), the two defeated the top doubles pairing for Medaille 8-4.

D'Youville came up big in their singles matches as they won five of the six matches over the Mavericks. Dena Iadanza (Vestal, NY/Vestal) took down her opponent 7-5, 6-3 with Julia Clapper (Cleveland, OH/Highland) earning a 6-4, 6-2 victory. Faith Falkowski (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame) had a tough match but pulled out a big win 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) with Amanda Waliszewski (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) grabbing a 6-3, 6-2 win.

In her doubles match with Waliszewski, Lexi Dickson (Hamilton, Ont./Frontier) battled hard as her and Waliszewski pushed the Mavericks at every point.

The women played an extremely strong match as they handed Medaille just their second conference loss. 

This Sunday, October 6 will be the final conference match of the season for the Spartans as they take on the Penn State-Behrend Lions at 9:30am at Southtowns Tennis Center.
