Orchard Park, NY - The D'Youville women's tennis team is heading back to the postseason as the women defeated the Penn State-Behrend Lions on Sunday morning by the final score of 6-3.
Amanda Waliszewski (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) helped pick up two points for the women in her singles and doubles matches. In her doubles match with her partner Lexi Dickson (Hamilton, Ont./Frontier), the two picked up an 8-5 victory while as a singles player, Waliszewski took down her opponent 1-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Freshmen Julia Clapper (Cleveland, OH/Highland) and Faith Falkowski (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame) combined to grab three points for the Spartans with wins in their double match and single matches. The two picked up an 8-0 win over the Lions in their doubles match while Clapper registered a 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 win in her singles match. Falkowski added a 6-1, 6-0 win in her singles match to add to the team's total.
Dena Iadanza (Vestal, NY/Vestal) celebrated her senior day with a 6-0, 6-1 singles victory as Lauren Karoglan (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) picked up a 6-3. 6-0 victory. Alisson Meissner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) added a very good effort in both her singles and doubles matches for the women.
D'Youville will close out their regular season with a non-conference match against Houghton this Tuesday, October 8 at Houghton at 6:30pm. They will then host their first-round AMCC playoff match next Saturday, October 12 at 2:00pm at Southtowns Tennis Center.
