Women's Tennis Dominates Bradford to Advance to AMCC Semifinals

Orchard Park, NY - The D'Youville women's tennis team claimed their first playoff victory since joining the AMCC on Saturday afternoon as the women defeated the Pitt.-Bradford Panthers 5-1 in the first round of the AMCC playoffs.

Lauren Karoglan (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and Alisson Meissner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) came up big for the women as both doubles partners and in their singles matches. The duo earned an 8-2 victory in their doubles match while Karoglan picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win. Meissner battled hard, fighting from behind and coming back with a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9) victory for a third point for the women.

Lexi Dickson (Hamilton, Ont./Frontier) and Amanda Waliszewski (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) picked up a big win as doubles partners at 8-5. Dena Iadanza (Vestal, NY/Vestal) picked up another point with a strong singles win at the score of 6-2, 7-5. 

Three singles matches went unfinished as Julia Clapper (Cleveland, OH/Highland), Faith Falkowski (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame), and Waliszewski all were leading in their singles matches prior to them ending early.

With their win, the Spartans will advance to play the top seeded Franciscan Barons next Saturday, October 19 at 3:30pm at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA.
