Buffalo, NY - After an undefeated week that included a playoff win, sophomore Lauren Karoglan (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) has been named AMCC Player of the Week.
On Tuesday against Houghton, Karoglan earned an 8-4 doubles victory and a 6-2, 7-5 singles victory against the Houghton Highlanders. Then on Saturday against Pitt.-Bradford, Lauren helped lead the charge in the team's big 5-1 playoff victory over the Panthers. Lauren helped earn a point with a 6-1, 6-0 singles victory and then picked up an 8-2 doubles victory with her partner.
The sophomore has been one of the best in the conference throughout the season and has been the team's top player throughout the season. She has accumulated a 6-1 record in conference play and a 4-3 doubles record, earning multiple points in 11 matches this season.
As a freshman last season, Laruen played in all 13 matches and was the team's top singles player in each of them. Her singles record at the end of the season was 11-2 and she posted a 10-3 doubles record as part of the top doubles pairing for the women.
At Orchard Park High School, Lauren played five years of tennis. She was an ECIC and Section VI Doubles Champion, qualified for four consecutive NYS Championships, and was a 2016 Doubles Consolation Champion in Girl's NYS High School Tennis Championship.
Karoglan is a Nursing major and the daughter of Denise and Anton Karoglan.
