Women's Volleyball Splits on Day One of Tournament

Morrisville, NY-D'Youville opened the Morrisville State Invitational in spectacular fashion with a 25-8 opening set win over SUNY Cobleskill. The Spartans kept the momentum and took the final two sets 25-17 and 25-22 for their fourth win of the season.

Emily Milbrand (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) had a team-high 7 kills and 3 blocks followed by Kaylee Stewart (Wilson, NY/Wilson) with 6 kills. Alyssa Dueringer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) had a match-high 14 assists and 15 digs.

The Spartans dropped their next match in three sets to Penn State Behrend. Set scores were 25-16, 25-16, and 25-12.

Dueringer had 15 assists and 16 digs, Lara Svensson (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) totaled 17 digs, and Savannah Brayton (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) had 12 digs for the Spartans.

D'Youville is 4-5 on the season and in the first 15 days of the 2013 season have already equaled last year's win total.
