Two Spartan Teams Take Road Losses

Brockport, N.Y. & Williamsville, N.Y.-Two Spartan women's teams were in action on the road today

Women's tennis took on Daemen College at Park Country Club and the Spartans were downed 9-0.

The other team in action was women's volleyball and they traveled to Brockport State. D'Youville was defeated in four sets. Game scores were 19-25, 26-24, 20-25, and 14-25.

Kaylee Stewart (Wilson, NY/Wilson) had a team-high 9 kills and Alyssa Dueringer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) recorded her third-straight double-double with 17 assists and 12 digs.

After dropping the first set 25-19, D'Youville jumped out to an early 10-4 lead in the second then hung on to win 26-24. The Spartans then took an 18-17 lead in the third set and that was as close to victory as the Black & Red would get.

"We put ourselves in position to take control of the match," said D'Youville Head Coach John Hutton. "It's something we have to learn. When it's there, go and take it."

D'Youville falls to 5-7 overall. The Spartans are off until they face Alfred University at home September 25. Start time in the College Center Gym is 7:00 p.m.
