Women's Volleyball Wins at Home in Four Sets

Buffalo, NY-Women's volleyball churned out a four set win over Alfred University tonight in the College Center Gym. D'Youville won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22, dropped the third 26-24, and took the fourth 25-22.

The win improves the Spartan's record to 6-7 overall.

Kaylee Stewart (Wilson, NY/Wilson) had a career-high 11 kills followed by Molly Minkiewicz (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) with a season-high 8 kills. Emily Milbrand (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) added 7 kills, 5 blocks, and 4 service aces. Lara Svensson (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) snared a team-high 19 digs.

"Tonight we learned how to grind out a win," said Spartan's Head Coach John Hutton. "There were times in this match we didn't play well but we rebounded at the right times and played good enough in spots."

Next for D'Youville is four matches at the SUNYIT Invitational. September 27 the Spartans play SUNYIT at 4:00 p.m. and Alfred State at 8:00 p.m. September 28 D'Youville faces Utica at 10:00 a.m. and Wells at 2:00 p.m.
