Women's Volleyball Defeated Twice on First Day of SUNYIT Invitational

Marcy, NY-D'Youville was defeated by the event host SUNYIT in their first match of the day. Set scores were 25-16, 25-13, and 25-11. Kaylee Stewart (Wilson, NY/Wilson) had a team-high 8 kills and Lara Svensson (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home).

The Spartans closed the night with a four-set loss to Alfred State.

D'Youville roared out to a convincing 17-9 lead in the first set only to backpedal into a 25-22 loss. The second went to Alfred State 25-19. D'Youville made it interesting with a 25-21 third set triumph and went out with a 25-21 loss in the fourth.

The Spartan's middle blockers got it done on offense, Emily Milbrand (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) had a team-high 11 kills followed by Molly Minkiewicz (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) with 8 kills.

On defense, Svensson again paced the Spartans with 16 digs and Kayla Deth (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) added 15.

On day two of the SUNYIT Invitational, D'Youville (7-10) will play Utica College at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow followed by a 2:00 p.m. match versus Wells College.
