D'Youville Volleyball Splits Saturday

September 13th, 2014 – The second day of the Penn State-Behrend Tournament saw the D'Youville Women's Volleyball team defeat Morrisville State 3-1 in their first game, and lose to Westminster College 3-0 in their second game.

Morrisville State took the first set 25-23, but D'Youville then took the next three sets in commanding fashion by the scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-18. Westminster College took all three sets 25-10, 27-25 and 25-11.

Against Morrisville State, freshman Kaylee Stewart (Wilson, NY/Wilson) led the team in kills with 7. Junior Natalie Rieman (West Seneca, NY/Immaculata Academy) led the team in assists with 21. As a team, the Spartans record 33 kills on 33 assists, as well as 29 digs.

Facing a tough Westminster team, the D'Youville totaled 27 kills on 27 assists and also had 37 digs. Freshman Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport HS) led the team with 8 kills and 11 digs. Natalie Rieman again led the team in assists with 15.

In two previous meetings between Morrisville State and D'Youville have both gone the Spartan's way with scores of 3-0 and 3-2.

Megan Schneider also was named to the All-Tournament team.

The next game for the D'Youville Women's Volleyball Team is Wednesday, September 17th at home against Brockport. The game begins at 7:00pm.
