Youth Leads Volleyball Back to Winning Ways

Cazenovia, NY - The D'Youville Women's Volleyball Team defeated Cazenovia College on Saturday afternoon 3-0 to get their first win in their last 4 games. 

In 3 sets, the Spartans defeated Wildcats 25-22, 30-28 and 27-25. Freshmen Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City) both made strong impacts on the offense. Schneider led the team with 12 kills while Smith was second on the team with 10 kills. Sophomore Savannah Brayton (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) added 6 kills of her own to go along with 2 digs.

Freshman Abby Booth (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) dished out all 36 assists the team had. As a team, D'Youville had 36 kills, 36 assists and 15 digs.

Head Coach Stephanie Kazmierczak was pleased to come away with the win in the hard fought match. "Close games today but the girls stayed focused and were able to come away with the win." Kazmierczak hopes that this big win will give the team a push in their upcoming games. "This should give us great momentum for our next conference match."

The next game for the D'Youville Women's Volleyball Team is Wednesday, October 15th at home against Pitt.-Bradford. The game begins at 7:00pm in the College Center Gym.
