First Conference Victory Eludes Women's Volleyball Yet Again

Pittsburg, NY - The D'Youville Women's Volleyball Team couldn't capture their first conference win of the season as they fell in 3 sets to La Roche on Saturday afternoon by the score of 3-0.

In 3 sets, La Roche defeated D'Youville 25-16, 25-16 and 25-22. The women had 24 kills, 24 assists and 26 digs on the afternoon.

Freshman Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) tied for the team lead in kills by recording 8 against La Roche, and also added a team leading 8 digs. Freshman Abby Booth (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) was first on the Spartans with 22 assists. A third freshman, Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City) tied Schneider for the team lead with 8 kills.

Head Coach Stephanie Kazmerczak wants to keep her team moving in the right direction. "All we can do is keep working hard and the wins will start coming." Even with the loss, Kazmierczak knew her team tried hard for their first conference win. "It was a good effort today, just couldn't pull out the win."

Four games remain on the women's schedule, including two of which that are home. The next game for the D'Youville Women's Volleyball Team is Tuesday, October 21st against Hilbert College at home. The game begins at 7pm.
