Women's Volleyball Falls In Close Game to Mt. Aloysius

Cresson, PA - The D'Youville Women's Volleyball Team nearly came away with their first conference win of the season Saturday against Mt. Aloysius but ultimately fell in 5 sets to the Mounties, 3-2.

D'Youville came out strong against Mt. Aloysius by winning the first set 25-18 and the third set in commanding fashion, 25-12. The Mounties answered each time by winning the second set 25-17 and the fourth set 25-23. In the fifth set, Mt. Aloysius carried their momentum and defeated the Spartans 15-12 to win the game 3-2.

Freshman Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City) led the team in kills with 11, followed by Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) who tallied 9. Schneider had 18 digs to lead all D'Youville players. A third freshman, Abby Booth (Hamburg, NY/Frontier), had 31 assists, to lead the team. As a team, the Spartans had 35 kills, 33 assists and 64 digs.

Head Coach Stephanie Kazmierczak was pleased with her team's play on the day, "We came together and made some amazing plays. A few points that didn't go our way made the difference."

The next game for the D'Youville Women's Volleyball Team is Wednesday, October 29th against Penn St.-Behrend. The game begins at 7pm and will have live video/stats.
