Spartan Volleyball Loses to Host Lakers

Oswego, NY – After winning their first game of the Oswego State Tournament, the D'Youville women's volleyball team would drop their second match of the day to the host Oswego State Lakers by the final score of 3-0.

The Lakers would take an early lead over the Spartans in the first set of the match. Megan McCarthy (Eden, NY/Eden) and Abby Booth (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) keeping D'Youville in the set with kills each but Oswego State would quickly take control. The hosts would take their 14-8 lead and take it all the way to a 25-13 first set win.

In the second set, the two sides would start out playing an even game. Tied at 6, Oswego would again get on a roll and begin to take control of the game. The Lakers would score 4 unanswered points to make the score 18-10, and eventually win the second set with the score of 25-13 for the second set in a row.

D'Youville would put up a fight in the third set, but it would end in similar fashion as the Spartans were defeated by the Lakers 25-19.

Junior Kaylee Stewart (Wilson, NY/Wilson) led the team with 6 kills. Abby Booth had a team high 12 digs, 11 assists and 4 service aces to go with her 4 digs. Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) had 3 kills and 9 digs.

The women will get back on the court at the Oswego State Tournament tomorrow, playing at 12pm against Sage and 2pm against Hartwick.
