Buffalo, NY - The D'Youville women's volleyball suffered a loss at the hands of the Franciscan Barons on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 3-0.
Franciscan took the early lead 9-4 over D'Youville. The Spartans pulled to within three at 11-8 but then the Barons jumped out to a 20-11 advantage. They would then go on to win the first set 25-13.
The Barons were once again out early in the second set. They took a 7-0 lead and then made it 12-4. D'Youville scored four unanswered points to trail 12-8. However Franciscan once again took it to another level and would win the set 25-15.
In the third set, D'Youville was the team to take an early lead with a 7-5 advantage. Franciscan came back and retook the lead at 14-11. They would keep that lead until the end of the third set, winning 25-18 and the match 3-0.
Alexandra Bubar (Wilson, NY/Wilson) led the team with 11 digs, with McKenna Cartonia (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) leading the team with 11 assists. Megan McCarthy (Eden, NY/Eden) had six kills, one behind the team leader Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City).
The women will play next on Wednesday, November 2nd in the first round of the AMCC playoffs. D'Youville's opponent and the site of the game are yet to be determined. You can find the latest on the team's schedule page by clicking here.
