Keuka, NY – The D'Youville women's volleyball team went 1-1 in their second day at Keuka as the Spartans defeated Hartwick in match 3-1 and fell to Chatham in their second match 3-0.
After dropping the first set 25-21 to Hartwick, the women came back to win three straight sets and take the match. Sets two and three went the Spartan's way by the scores of 25-22 in both, and D'Youville went on to close out the match in dominate fashion by the score of 25-11 in the fourth set.
Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City) each had 11 kills to lead the team. Julie Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary's Academy) added eight kills with an incredible 23 block assists. Alexandra Bubar (Wilson, NY/Wilson) had a team high 15 digs with McKenna Cartonia (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) leading the team with 19 assists and Abby Booth (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) adding 18.
D'Youville took their 2-0 record on the year into the second match of the day, but unfortunately fell to Chatham 3-0 with the scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-14. Schneider and Smith once again tied for the team lead in kills with four each. Cartonia and Booth each had seven assists while Booth led the team in digs with eight.
The next match for the women will come this Wednesday, September 6 as the Spartans will travel to play St. John Fisher at 7:00pm.
