Buffalo, NY - Sophomore setter McKenna Cartonia (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) helped drive the team to a 2-1 record this past week, improving the team's record to 6-5 and has been named AMCC Player of the Week.
Over the three games last week against Cazenovia, RIT, and Medaille, Cartonia totaled 10 kills, 19 digs, seven service aces, one block, and 49 assists. She recorded a double-double in a 3-0 win over Cazenovia with 15 assists and 12 digs, adding five services aces. Against Medaille on Saturday, McKenna had a season high 24 assists in the 3-0 victory. Currently, McKenna leads the team with 137 assists, 15 service aces, and is third with 62 digs.
As a freshman in 2016, McKenna played in 25 matches and 96 sets. She ranked second in assists (302), assists/set (3.15), service aces (30), and service aces/set (0.31) throughout the season, including four double-doubles. She reached her a career high in assists (20), in which she reached three times.
At Lancaster High School, Cartonia played four years of volleyball and was named an ECIC First Team All-Star. She played club volleyball for Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club.
McKenna is the daughter of Joe and Donna Cartonia and a Health Analytics major.
