Brockport, NY – The D'Youville women's volleyball team traveled to Brockport on Wednesday evening and lost to the host Golden Eagles by the final score of 3-0.
Brockport quickly got the lead on the Spartans in each of the three sets. The Golden Eagles built a 14-8 lead and grew it to a 22-14 lead and eventually won the set 25-16. In the second set, the two had a three-point differential before Brockport took a 16-9 lead. As the two battled the rest of the set, the Golden Eagles pulled away to win 25-18.
The final set of the match dominated from Brockport. After taking a 4-3 lead, they scored 21 of the next 25 points to win the set 25-8 and the match 3-0.
Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) led the team with five kills in the match and tied for the team lead with seven digs. Alexandra Bubar (Wilson, NY/Wilson) and McKenna Cartonia (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) each also added seven digs in the match. Abby Booth (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) recorded a team high nine assists with six digs of her own.
D'Youville will next play this Friday, September 29 as they host Baldwin Wallace and Houghton. The first match of the afternoon begins at 5:30pm against Baldwin Wallace and the next match against Houghton begins at 7:30pm.
