Buffalo, NY - A pair of seniors represented the D'Youville women's volleyball team as members of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference all-conference teams to conclude their careers, announced the conference Wednesday.
Senior Kendyll Smith (Petrolia, PA/Karns City) had a career year this season and was rewarded by being named an AMCC Second Team All-Conference player. Kendyll finished eighth in the AMCC with 206 kills and ninth with 2.37 kills/set overall, but finished fifth in conference play with 102 kills. She led the team this season in kills, kills/set, was second in hitting percentage (.169), third in blocks/set (.30), and third in blocks (26). Smith had 16 matches this season in which she recorded double-digit kills and had a season high of 16.
Kendyll set several career highs this season as a senior. Those highs included kills, kills/set, and blocks as she also established herself as a leader and a team captain. Her impressive play helped the women reach the first round of the AMCC playoffs for the second consecutive season. She was also named an AMCC Third Team All-Conference player in 2016.
Senior Megan Schneider (Lockport, NY/Lockport) continued to be one of the best all-around players in the AMCC this season and was recognized with an AMCC Third Team All-Conference selection. Megan finished the season tied for ninth in the AMCC in kills (203), eleventh in kills/set (2.31), twelfth in digs/set (3.33), and thirteenth in digs (293). She finished second on the team in kills, digs, kills/set, digs/set, fifth in blocks and blocks/set. Schneider led the team with nine double-doubles, including finishing the season with four consecutive. Throughout the season she had 17 matches of double-digit digs and nine matches of double-digit kills.
Megan set career highs this season in kills, digs, and digs/set and was also an important leader, serving as a team captain. She was named AMCC Player of the Week once.
Smith graduated from Karns City High School where she played volleyball, basketball, ran track and field, and was a cheerleader. She is an Occupational Therapy major and the daughter of Jeffery and Carisa Smith. A graduate of Lockport High School, Megan played four years of volleyball and four years of softball. An Occupational Therapy major, Megan is the daughter of Mary and Tom Schneider.
