Buffalo, NY - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) released their women's volleyball preseason poll on Wednesday morning with the Spartans in position to make their third consecutive playoff appearance.
After reaching the playoffs as the fifth seed in 2017, the women are anticipated to make the playoffs as the sixth seed in 2018. Despite losing a pair of all-conference players from last season, the women still have a talented roster that will push for the postseason.
Penn State-Altoona and Pitt.-Bradord were voted on to finish at the top of the conference, tying for the first in the poll. La Roche follows as they are predicted to finish third, with Penn State-Behrend (4), Mount Aloysius (5), and D'Youville (6) rounding out the predicted playoff teams.
D'Youville will be under new leadership this season as Cathy Hummel takes over as head coach. Under her guidance and leadership from players such as Julie Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary's Academy), Samantha Murray (Hamburg, NY/Frontier), McKenna Cartonia (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster), and Jasmine Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins), the team will have a great shot at qualifying for the postseason yet again.
The full preseason poll - including top 10 ranking, players to watch, and preseason awards - can be found on the AMCC website.
