Women's Volleyball Drop Two at Day One Red Dragon Classic

Cortland, NY – The D'Youville women's volleyball team began their 2018 season at the Red Dragon Classic hosted by Cortland on Friday afternoon, falling to the host Red Dragons 3-1 and the Keane State Owls 3-0.

In the opening match of the season, Cortland defeated D'Youville 22-25, 25-10, 25-10, 25-18. Samantha Murray (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) led the team with five kills with Lauren Conley (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville), Jasmine Filkov (North Collins, NY/North Collins), and Julie Fleming (Tonawanda, NY/Mt. St. Mary's Academy) each adding three. Desiree Walters (Oswego, IL/Oswego) had a team high 21 digs with seven different players recording two or more.

In the second match of the day, the Owls took down the Spartans 25-15, 25-21, 25-10. Carly Milleville (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) recorded a team high six kills, followed by Fleming with five, and Filkov with four. Walters again led the team in digs, this time with 22. Filkov also added 10 and Talia Wright (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) tallied nine and two service aces.

The women will complete day two of the Red Dragon Classic tomorrow, September 1 as they play Lebanon Valley and Oneonta.
